Treading on my Dreams.

Discovered, ah... rediscovered Yeats...

I would spread the cloths under your feet
But I, being poor, have only my dreams
I have spread my dreams under your feet
Tread softly because you tread on mydreams.

He wishes for the Cloth ofHeaven

I simply love this verse...I cannot think of any other lines that better express my deepest thoughts about the question one so often searches for the answers to: 'what is love?'

I first came across these lines when I was 14. To my young and unimpressionable mind, It spoke of a love so deep, so earnest and so 'giving' that it stayed with me through the years in the quiet recesses of my mind, echoing gentle reminders in soft undertones. To many people this poem is an expression of how much you love someone, but I feel it's more about the fear of loving someone. 'Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.' Saying: I have given you everything I have, my soul, my dreams, my heart... don't break it. As honest as it gets.

Later I came across these lines…

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart).

I've read poetry before, but every time I try to comment on this beautiful piece of art I just lay my fingers on the keyboard and stay still, quiet.

Amazing words expressing that times where despite it CANT be seen, we are giving our dreams and hopes as our most valuable gift or offering. I once did it (and said it) but she didn't tread softly. My soul still hurts.

thanks for posting it, I look for this poem from time to time.
